Happy Boston Marathon Day! Can I just say that I love that this dog is named Spencer, (I’m assuming) after the famous fictional private investigator based in Boston. Remember Spencer for Hire on television? He was from a series of books by Robert B. Parker, which I highly recommend for those of you who like crime fiction.

I don’t understand how this is a hard concept. You don’t leave dogs in parked cars. Never. Or at least not in the summertime. I know I rant about this every summer, but apparently people still don’t realize that hot cars can kill a dog very quickly. In a chilling reminder of just how important it is to keep your dog’s vaccines up to date, 20 dogs in the Merrimack Valley area of Massachusetts have died recently from parvovirus, and officials expect the death toll to climb before the outbreak is contained.
