The Westminster Kennel Club welcomes over 200 breeds and varieties of dogs to the 146th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show Presented by Purina Pro Plan on January 24-26, 2022. The iconic dog show is set to return to Madison Square Garden for the evening competitions after the 2021 event was held outside of New York City for the first time in history due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the second-longest continuously held sporting event in the U.S., the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show will again celebrate dog breeds, including those lesser-known breeds such as the American Foxhound, Skye Terrier, Sussex Spaniel, and Bergamasco Sheepdog. These hidden gems will be part of the 19.5 hours of live FOX Sports television coverage culminating with Best in Show on the evening of Wednesday, January 26, on FS1. As you probably know, the granddaddy of all dog shows, the Westminster Kennel Club Show, is generally held in the middle of the winter in the place everyone wants to be when it’s cold, New York City. However, with ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, the decision was made to make this year’s show an outdoor event, and the big show was moved to June in hopes of finding some good weather. It’s been hot hot hot in New York this week, but temperatures are supposed to moderate in time for this weekend’s event. Continue reading Coming Soon: Westminster 2021

Who Won the AKC National Championship Presented by Royal Canin?

A closely held secret! I can’t reveal the winners yet because it hasn’t been televised yet, and I don’t want to be a spoiler.

If you absolutely need your dog show fix, there are highlights available on AKC.TV and on the ESPN app. There are also features on rally, obedience, and (my favorite) agility available, as well as the All-Breed Puppy and Junior Stakes.

Otherwise, you’ll have to wait with the rest of us to see it in a three-hour special on ABC on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 2 p.m. ET, which I will be live-blogging. as usual.

Sorry! (Not sorry)

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
