My sweet Penny. The only way she could have gotten closer to me would be by getting inside my clothes!
This was taken during yesterday’s thunderstorm, but she will probably look just like this during tonight’s fireworks. Keep in mind more pets go missing on July 4th than on any other day.
Leave your pet at home if you’re going out and leave a TV or radio running to help block out the noise. If possible, lock them in a small room at the center of your house, away from windows.
Looking at my 10-year old Beagle, Penny, I have old dogs on my heart today. Since it’s Giving Tuesday, I would encourage you to donate your time and / or money to a shelter near you that serves old souls.
As much as I would like to feed my dogs the BARF (bones & raw food) diet, I don’t have the time to be making dog food every day, and the one time I did try it, I found it to be pretty expensive. Since I was a kid, I’ve always fed my dogs plain old Purina Dog Chow, and they’ve always done well on it.

Everything is better when shared with a friend. We had one of the dog beds out being washed, but that’s no problem for Penny and Daisy – they just cuddled up together so sweetly, I had to share it with you. It’s a nice sentiment for a Sunday, don’t you agree?
