From The Dog Lady’s mailbag: AKC Reunite, the largest non-profit pet identification and recovery service provider in the United States, is pleased to announce $75,000 in donations to K-9 units at eight police departments in Minnesota through its AKC Reunite Adopt a K-9 Cop matching grant program. Funds were raised by contributions from the United States Police Canine Association and community members, with AKC Reunite matching donations at a three-to-one ratio. The United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) is the largest and oldest police dog certification organization in the United States.

Recently, Aches (4.5 years old) had fallen ill. After dedicated care at home, and travel to Columbus for expert advice, it was determined that he had an inoperable tumor on his spine.
Aches was one of the rare and special K-9s in that he was 100% work; however, when he was at home he was 100% a family dog. He leaves behind his dedicated partner, best friend, and Dad, Investigator McGilton, as well as his loving momma and his human sister. Continue reading RIP K-9 Aches→
After years of being demonized as dangerous dogs outlawed in many municipalities by breed-specific legislation, Pit Bulls are now being sworn in as K-9 officers! What an awesome turn of events!
