I always pull for The Hound, but I’m usually wrong, so don’t go by me.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
We know you have lots of choices to get your dog fix every day and appreciate the time you spend with us on doggies.com and breeders.net. Where do you mostly look for dog-related content?

Earlier in the week, I posted a graphic showing the Canine Ladder of Aggression. Some of the signs are pretty subtle, until you know what you’re looking for. The lowest level signs, blinking / yawning / licking the nose, can also be signs of anxiety, so it doesn’t necessarily mean you have an aggressive dog. The problem is that some dogs become aggressive when they are nervous.

Earlier this week, I posted about the decline in euthanasia in pet shelters, but I want to ask today about the broader question of euthanasia. I have a relative who is absolutely against it under any circumstances, while I tend to think it can be a humane solution when a dog is suffering. My son, who works in a nursing home asked me the other day why we can’t euthanize old, suffering people. I tried to explain how that’s a slippery slope, but I’m not sure he heard me.
How do you feel about the practice for dogs?

The Miami Heat announced they’d be using COVID detection dogs to screen fans as they enter the arena. In theory, I think it sounds like a good idea, but I have questions about what happens if a person shows up as positive. Is there follow-up? Do they get reimbursed for their ticket? What do you think?

It’s been a pretty mild winter so far here in northeastern Ohio, with mud more of a problem for us than snow and ice. But I know that’s not true everywhere. If you live in a colder climate, do you have to do anything to keep your dog safe and comfortable during the winter?

I always take an interest in who checks out my posts, and when I post about dog shows, there’s usually a huge following, but some of the groups do better than others. I will share with you on Sunday how many people looked at each group winner post from Thanksgiving’s National Dog Show, but for today, please tell me which group is your favorite. (I’ve not made it a secret that I love those hounds! But I will admit my absolute favorite breed is the Vizsla, from the sporting group.)
