Meet Forest! This handsome boy is currently being treated for heartworm. Here’s what his rescuers have to say about him:Forest is a super precious pup who just loves to have fun! He’s a 2 year old, 50 pound bundle of love. He loves belly rubs and is super-duper friendly!! He could play all day long chasing a ball or fetching a stick. He loves other dogs, kids, and pretty much all humans. Sweet Forest was rescued as an abandoned dog and is so thankful to have humans to take care of him, but what he really wants is his very own family. This precious boy deserves his very own yard to play in & his very own people. Won’t you be his forever family to love him and let him be your faithful and loyal boy pup? He will add so much joy to some very lucky family!

Tilly is very active, enjoys playing with toys, and meeting new people. Tilly is exuberant and will need someone who will continue teaching her new things because she loves to learn. She also enjoys being outside in the sunshine! Tilly needs a home without cats and would prefer older children 15 and up. She is dog-friendly with dogs her size, the right fit and a proper introduction.

Meet Elon! This handsome young fella is neutered, well on his way to potty training, and good with other dogs. Here’s what he has to say for himself: Hey everyone! My name is Elon! I’m 1-2 years old and I’m all puppy. I get along with my foster siblings, though they have a hard time keeping up with me. My foster dad’s say I’m doing great with potty training and I’m just getting introduced to my kennel, but have done well. I’d love to have an active family and a big, fenced in back yard so I can play fetch and chase squirrels. I can be very rambunctious and may knock over a small child, so older children would be best. I am a quick learner but would benefit from some professional training as I knew nothing before coming to HOHR. I am neutered, UTD on vacc., microchipped, and kept on monthly flea/tick/hw meds.

Meet Anemone! She is said to be good with kids, cats, and other dogs. Here’s what her rescuers have to say about her:Anemone is a sweet little 8 week old girl. She is still learning the ropes on potty training, she just isn’t too sure of this Iowa snow! She and her sister Amaryllis love to snuggle up on the couch with the other pups in the house and take long naps. If you’re looking for a cuddle buddy Anemone would be your girl!

Anemone and Amaryllis are two female terrier mix puppies rescued from Oklahoma high kill shelters. They were born in Nov’20 and working on potty training.

Honey! What a perfect name for such a sweet soulful girl. Honey is only 4-5yrs old. Recently pulled from IACS and in a foster home til she gets her furever home and family. She is a velcro boxer. Just loves being near her human and getting all the loving she so deserves. She needs a calmer loving home; prefer no other pets. 1/17/2021 This pretty girl is Annie! She is a 2 year old, 40 pound, Blue Heeler mix who LOVES her tennis balls. Particularly squeaky ones! Annie is so sweet but can be a little nervous upon meeting new people. She warms up as soon as she gets to know and trust them. Annie is current on her vaccinations, spayed, house trained and working to learn more obedience and leash skills. An ideal home for her would be one with a fenced in yard and a family who is willing to play ball with her and take her for walks. Because she is playful and energetic, Annie would do best with older children. She would also prefer to be your one-and-only pet companion.

Meet Mia! This Great Dane is an extra large ball of love. Here’s what her rescuers have to say about her:

Mia wants to be your girl! A three year old beauty, Mia is affectionate, loyal and playful. Mia loves children, does well with other dogs, but hasn’t had very much interaction with cats. Mia is housebroken, non-destructive and has excellent recall. She is fully vetted, has a lifetime microchip and is up to date on shots and prevention.

Shelter Sunday: Madonna / Citrus County Animal Services / Inverness, FL

Meet Madonna! What a great name for a dog going into Christmas week.

This beauty is deaf and can do well in a home with both children and other dogs. Here’s what her rescuers have to say about her:

Not many ever achieve the designation of “Rock Star” in play groups but Madonna has! The play group leader says she is social, tolerant, and playful. She has taken on the role of “Greeter/Helper”. She uses a few different play styles in the groups depending upon who she is playing with. She can play Gentle/Dainty, Push/Pull, and Rough/Rowdy. She is a confident player and is good at avoiding conflict and removing herself from pressure. She has excellent social skills and the group leader uses Madonna to help him test other dogs. She’s so sweet and absolutely loves the attention that she gets from volunteers and staff. What a lovely girl!

Madonna is easy to leash up and very eager to please her handlers. She walks very nicely on the leash. She is super friendly to people and likes to cuddle. She is deaf but seems to connect and understand people and other animals. She is an adult age 2-6 years old and weighs 51 pounds.
