If we are leaving the house for more than 2 hours, we put the radio on for our 6 year old Weimaraner. We also give her a delicious, low fat, all natural Blue Dog Bakery cookie as a snack to keep her busy while we are gone.
Recently our veterinarian told us our dog was over weight, and needed to lose about 5 pounds. Instead of removing her delicious Blue Dog Bakery cookies, we cut back on her dog food, so now she can enjoy her treats and not gain weight. She recently lost 4 pounds, and our veterinarian was very happy.
Our dog is not very interested in television, so the radio (and open window shade), plus her treat, keep her company.
