I can barely stand to write this story, but I’m going to in hopes that someone has information that will result in the prosecution of these…I would call them animals, but that’s an insult to animals. When burglars broke into a home in Hamtramck, Michigan, the family dog apparently began barking, which of course they didn’t like. From WSPA.com in South Carolina: Andra Grace, a a 1-year old Pit Bull, had puppies about 6 weeks ago, but her life since then has turned into a nightmare. Memphis Shelter Worker Guilty of Animal Cruelty
Don’t they screen these people? Such a sad story! I hope they sentence this monster appropriately. Although I’m not sure what would be appropriate – maybe let him live in a cage and get held in a choke-hold every once in awhile?
Two other employees pled guilty to animal cruelty charges last year. Archie Elliot III was sentenced to two years in prison, while Frank Lightfoot was sentenced to just 20 days. Charges were dismissed against the former director of the shelter and his administrative assistant. The shelter’s veterinarian was acquitted.
The Examiner has been following the story from the beginning.
I’ll try and update you as to the sentencing when it is held.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

As it turns out, the man who rescued Chance from the side of the road is a contractor for AEP, where I work my day job. (Byron Tate works at AEP’s Cook Plant.) The rescue has been given lots of space on our in-house website, and today I found out that another AEP employee saw Chance when she took her own dog to the vet.
